G is for Gingerbread Men

It's the last day of Term 3 and as a bit of a special treat to celebrate all the learning we've been doing, we made gingerbread men biscuits. G is our letter of the week, and we've read "The Gingerbread Man" and then read some other stories based on that, "The Lamington Man" and then "The ANZAC Biscuit Man". We had lots of fun making, baking, decorating and of course eating the gingerbread men.

The Pirate Ship Sandpit

After months of listening to jack hammers, concrete machines, diggers, builders and other large noises (especially when we were based in Room 34!) the newest play area of the school was opened. Situated beside the gymnasium on the hill, is our new pirate ship sandpit. With shade sails, a pirate flag and a huge amount of sandpit toys, Room 9 had the honour of being the first class to get into it! Boy did the children have an awesome time! The children had such a fabulous time, they were sharing, communicating, using their imaginations with what they were building and where they were steering the ship. It's going to become a firm favourite play area with our little ones!

Road Safety Session

Today we had two important visitors come to our class today. We had Constable Lorena and Constable Jen come in to talk to us about road safety. We started the session in the class, talking about places where we need to keep ourselves safe around vehicles, e.g. crossing the road, walking on the footpath, crossing driveways etc... We have to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN! We then got to put our new knowledge into action. We crossed the school driveway over towards the crossing, then taking turns with each of the Constables, we walked across the road, looking both ways all the time. Then we crossed the school driveway again, coming back into school. The children did a great job and there are some future Road Patrollers in our class!
